The participation of our team to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission inauguration at Saint John Cathedral in Cap Town, South Africa, with the international delegation of People to People Ambassador Programme managed by Pr Bassel Vanderkol, psychiatrist, USA and international member of International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). |
1998 |
Following to this South African visit, begins a reflexion on the creation of the Psychotraumatology and Mediation Institute for Africa (IPMA), thus to be brought to help the numerous victims of war, of whatever kind of abuse, of natural disaster and pandemic in Africa. |
2000 |
On 16th December 2000, the official creation of the IPMA in Neuchâtel (Switzerland). |
2004 |
On 25th July 2004, IPMA becomes Institute of Psychotraumatology and Mediation (IPM). |
The IPM international committee takes in charge to broadcast this message of international solidarity to assist the people victim of invisible wounds, side effect to the traumas, in their psycho-body healing, reconciliation and rebuilding process.
The Institute mobilises the professional, material and financial resources to heal the victims and promote the social peace through the mediation between offender and victim, for a best violence cycle prevention in areas with armed conflicts or reached by natural disaster.
The holistic support to the victims, but also the family and community that are concerned, as well as the offenders through cross disciplinary, psycho-educational approaches and mediation, helps learning again the culture tolerance to those communities and future generations.
